Researchers from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health in collaboration with the National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) are conducting a study to help volunteer firefighters/emergency responders and their loved ones learn more about healthy eating to minimize the risk of developing serious chronic diseases. The program will offer a diverse set of online tools and strategies for helping firefighters and their families to eat and feel better through nutrition and lifestyle resources.
Participation is voluntary, confidential, and can be withdrawn at any time. Participants will be asked to complete baseline and follow-up questionnaires, and utilize the online resources as much as they like in order to implement healthier habits. The survey answers will remain confidential and form part of a study about Mediterranean diet and healthy lifestyle behaviors in the U.S fire service to continue to help reduce the risks of heart disease, cancer, and other chronic illness in the fire service.
