OSHA Refresher Course

VFIS will continue to host our online OSHA refresher course and is currently undergoing an expansion of the fundamental system which has resulted in more time devotion to this as opposed to class development/revision/conversion.

The OSHA course is in the process of being revised and we hope for its return soon.

Once again, we apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience.

New Elements just approved by the New York State Department of Labor

This program is a self-guided training process integrating video (voice over powerpoint) presentations, supplemented with reading materials and in-field exercises, that will achieve the objective of refresher safety and health training required in the State of New York.

To complete the program proceed through each Module and Unit. Complete them in the order in which they are presented. The time each takes ranges from a few minutes to as much as 15 minutes or more. The entire class, including the practical exercises should take between 8 and 10 hours, depending on the speed with which you complete the Modules.
Each Module has multiple units. You can stop at any point and simply pickup the program at the next unit, the next time you log on. Each module has a programmed learning segment, a set of review questions, and a printout that will provide a summary of that section.

The Modules are

  1. General Hazard Recognition
  2. Fire Station Safety
  3. Response Safety
  4. Emergency Scene Safety
  5. SCBA (Self Contained Breathing Apparatus)
  6. Tools & Equipment
  7. Recent Developments in Fire Safety

Upon completion of all Modules and all Units, you can complete the exam which consists of true-false and multiple choice questions. You need a 70% success rate to pass the course and receive a certificate.

Upon completion of the course exam, the certificate can be printed. For full credit, the signed SCBA practical form, the exam attestation form, and the certificate should be stapled together and placed in your personnel or training file.
