Robert McConville

On August 20th, Robert (Bob) McConville, Veteran Suffolk County Fire Official and EMT, was unanimously elected 2nd Vice President of the Firemen’s Association of the State of N.Y. (FASNY), at its 138th Annual Convention at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Hauppauge, LI.

McConville, of Selden, also was General Chairman of at this year’s convention, as he was in 1999 when Suffolk County last was host.

In addition to many posts held since first pulling on turn-out gear at the St. James Volunteer Fire Department in 1968, Bob is a past president of three area fire related organizations: Southern N.Y. Volunteer Firemen’s Association, Suffolk County V.F.A., and county’s fire departments’ Emerald Society. He’s also a twenty-eight year member of the Selden Fire Department’s Dixon Engine Co. 3, its Captain in 1990-91, Treasurer and EMT for twenty-five years, and Fire District Commissioner in 2009. Active in parade and drill teams, he’s an ex-Captain of Selden’s “Slow-Pokes” Team.

A do-er not a talker, he was not too busy to become a charter and active member of his county’s Key Recruitment and Retention Committee.
