FASNY Applauds State Senate for Passing Volunteer Firefighter Presumptive Cancer Coverage

The New York State Senate recently approved presumptive cancer coverage for volunteer firefighters, placing the onus squarely on the Assembly to do the same. FASNY applauds the State Senate for acting quickly on this legislation to begin the new year and urges the Assembly to quickly follow suit.

Governor Cuomo Announces Expansion of 'Move Over' Law to Protect Volunteer Firefighters and Ambulance Workers Now in Effect

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo announced the expansion of New York's "Move Over" law to protect volunteer firefighters and ambulance workers is now in effect. The law, which the Governor signed last year, requires drivers to slow down and move over a lane when approaching a vehicle displaying blue or green lights, which are operated by volunteer firefighters or ambulance workers involved in a roadside emergency.
